Placing an Investment Analyst for a Global Investment Manager.
The Challenge
The client for this search was a Global Investment Manager. The hiring manager had recently been promoted and was looking to bring on some to replace them in the team. This was not our typical process as the hiring manager had taken a very unusual route and wanted someone who had taken a similarly “unusual” route as their replacement.
Our Approach
Our Search process commenced with collating a detailed long list made up of people, situated globally, that fit within the very strict parameters. Upon discussing this list with the client, it was quickly restricted to people solely based in Europe.
We subsequently kicked off the search more formally in which we approached a series of candidates. Every candidate was screened with an in person meeting during which we critiqued both their interest in the role as well as their capability of performing in such a demanding environment before disclosing the name of institution.
We had weekly calls with the client during which we discussed the profiles of candidates who were interviewing, those we had met and wished to present, and those that we had rejected and the reasoning for doing so.
After 6 weeks, the client had reduced the short list down to three preferred candidates who had successfully passed the interview processes. At this point the client requested candidates go through further testing which included psychometric testing, numerical testing, and literacy testing.
Results
Upon completing these additional tests, one candidate stood out from the rest and the client decided to issue an offer. We offered counsel as to how best to structure the offer and were then tasked with ensuring that both parties were comfortable with the terms of the offer and then guiding the candidate through the resignation process prior to joining the client.
