1. Tell us a bit about yourself Breen, what is your background?
I am a 28-year-old experienced salesperson with a background in Pharma and medical device sales. I have also had experience in running my own businesses in the past. I have an honours degree in Sales, Marketing and Management. Most importantly I am a very proud father to a 9-year-old daughter.
2. Why did you join the recruitment industry?
Coming out of the Pandemic and re-evaluating my options I decided I wanted a change and also wanted to be involved in a fast-paced, people orientated company that had tangible results. I knew from a sales perspective I had proven myself and exceeded targets year on year in the past and I liked the idea of our product being people and being able to improve the lives of candidates through new work placements. For years I had been told and would describe myself as a “People Person” and recruitment is definitely a role that allows me to utilise that.
3. Why did you choose #PhoenixFamily?
The start-up mentality and culture was something I really wanted to be a part of. Since Phoenix’s first year in business, I had been following the company on social media and had enjoyed following from a distance to see the company grow and expand month on month. When a role became available as a consultant I thought it would be a great choice. Little did I know how much I would actually enjoy the role and the people I work with. I can say with complete confidence Phoenix is the best place I have ever worked. For me it was not a choice to work in the recruitment industry, It was a choice to work for Phoenix in the recruitment Industry specifically.
4. Tell us about your role & experience so far with Phoenix?
I work as a recruitment consultant with Phoenix which is a role that allows me to wear many hats and work a full sales cycle. From start to finish I look after both candidates and clients experiences and also facilitate the interviewing and on boarding process for both ends. I also help candidates prepare for interviews which is a great value add to give the best possible chance for candidates to gain employment. Outside of this I also work on building relationships and bringing new clients on board while also developing current client relationships and seeking out new roles we can work on with current clients.
5. What's the best piece of advice you've been given that you share with our #PhoenixPeople?
Always look after the minor details- It is the small things that will hinder performance at the final hurdle.
Relationships are key even if there is no immediate return.
Teamwork and being able to liaise with colleagues and those more experienced than you play such an important role in your personal development.
Leave bad days in the past- treat each new day as a new challenge.
6. What are your interests outside of work?
It's funny to say but I enjoy working outside of work. I still run a coffee business part-time which I love doing. Outside of that, I enjoy travelling, Cars, Boxing, Watches and time with friends and family.
