The Funds & Corporate Services Sector Report: Q3 2026

In our H1 report we said three of the sector’s biggest platforms were in some stage of changing hands.

By the first week of October, two of those stories had landed.

  • JTC is now private. Permira and CPP Investments completed the £2.7bn take-private on 1 September. Nigel Le Quesne stays as CEO, with a stated plan to double the group again through U.S. and European M&A, U.S. trust services and AI.
  • KKR is buying Gen II. On 4 October KKR agreed to acquire Gen II Fund Services from Hg and General Atlantic at a $5.1bn enterprise value. Gen II administers more than $2tn for over 275 managers. Completion is expected in 2027.
  • IQ-EQ is still open. We have not seen a confirmed buyer or price for Astorg’s sale process in public sources.

The quieter story: banks are stepping back

Three bank-owned servicing businesses changed hands in ten weeks.

  • UBS agreed to transfer its former Credit Suisse fund administration businesses in Luxembourg and Switzerland to Northern Trust, and will exit fund administration entirely.
  • CACEIS agreed to take on Edmond de Rothschild’s Luxembourg asset servicing business.
  • State Street agreed to buy Santander CACEIS’s Latin American securities services business.

UBS put it plainly: fund administration is “increasingly technology-led and scale-driven”.

Carve-outs like these are talent events. Two-year migrations need transition and client leaders, and every bank exit releases senior operators who know the client books well.

Where the capital went

Mid-market administrators kept buying licences, people and local books in new jurisdictions:

  • Standish agreed to buy NCM Fund Services, adding Edinburgh, London, Jersey and Guernsey.
  • Hawksford completed two DNB-regulated acquisitions in the Netherlands, its tenth deal since 2022.
  • TMF Group bought Navigator Partners in Finland.
  • Imperium bought UK regulatory hosting firm Midmar Capital.
  • Bregal Sagemount took a majority stake in ATOZ Services in Luxembourg.
  • BlackFin completed its majority acquisition of Arendt Investor Services in Luxembourg.
  • Private equity took minority stakes in Appleby (New Mountain Capital) and Mourant (MML).

And capital moved hard into the technology layer underneath fund operations. Bloomberg agreed to buy Canoe Intelligence, Blackstone and BNY backed LemonEdge, an AI-native platform took a stake in Luxembourg Fund Services, and Vista is reported to be exploring a sale of Allvue at $2bn to $3bn.

The buyer mix is changing. Data companies, software investors and AI-native platforms now compete with private equity for the same assets.

Talent: the tech-native leadership team

Q3 brought fewer CEO changes than H1, but the senior hires tell a clear story. Administrators are hiring leaders who have built and sold technology, not only run operations.

  • Aztec Group created a Chief Commercial Officer role and hired from BlackRock’s Aladdin, eFront and Preqin businesses.
  • Apex Group hired a Chief Product Officer from fintech, with a background in AI, digital assets and tokenisation, and a digital markets head from Euroclear.
  • Belasko hired a Chief Growth Officer for private markets from Carta.
  • Waystone hired a new CFO and a new CEO for its UK ACD business.
  • Hawksford appointed a new CTO reporting into its Chief Integration Officer.
  • Vistra appointed Jeff Pamplin as COO for Fund Services, based in Ireland.
  • Tutman appointed Richard Murray, who ran Apex Group’s UK business, as CEO.

In Ireland, Irish Funds confirmed that Pat Lardner will step down as Chief Executive at the end of 2026 after leading the industry body since 2012. That will be one of the most visible senior appointments in Irish financial services over the coming months.

The AI mandate: from title to toolkit

In H1 we tracked AI moving into named C-suite roles. In Q3 we did not see a new Chief AI Officer at a major administrator.

That is not a slowdown. AI is being written into product, technology and data remits instead.

On the software side, Juniper Square released an AI agent that runs more than 150 checks on administrator output for GPs, whoever their administrator is.

When clients can measure your service quality automatically, client service, operations and technology leadership all come under the same spotlight.
