Our client is a US software and services company that supports the government in various defense initiatives. Because of their high growth, they would like to hire a lawyer to join their well established legal team to predominately support their East Coast business based in Northern Virginia.
The role will require a high degree of self-sufficiency but also someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team dedicated to providing top legal service. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and be comfortable working in ambiguity.
- Support the review and negotiation of a variety of federal government and defense transactions, including
- software licensing agreements and general corporate matters.
- Ensuring the business complies with regulations that apply to government contracts.
- Lead or support various compliance activities, reporting requirements, and internal investigations as required
- Assist in drafting company policies and prepare employee government contracts and compliance training and education
- Proactively manage other duties that may arise as part of a small legal team in a high growth start-up
Qualifications:
- In depth knowledge advising clients on government procurement laws and processes including the Federal Acquisition Regulation and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, particularly with respect to software/IT contracts.
- Experience in negotiating terms, costs, and requirements in contract proposals
- Experience working with outside counsel
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar
- 4+ years' of relevant legal experience
- Security clearance at Secret level or higher
