Job Title: Technical Accounting Manager
Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced technical accounting professional looking to make an impact in the renewable energy sector? A fast-growing company in the energy industry is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join its dynamic finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of accounting processes and financial reporting in a company committed to a sustainable energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions under US GAAP and IFRS, including areas such as debt, tax-equity agreements, derivatives, and more.
  • Lead technical research and documentation efforts, creating accounting memos and supporting M&A activities.
  • Manage the derivative and hedge accounting process, including month-end reporting and compliance.
  • Assist with financial close processes, including consolidation, IFRS adjustments, and preparing financial statements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors on technical accounting matters and internal controls.
  • Support strategic corporate initiatives and engage in special projects to improve financial processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in technical accounting, with a background in the renewables sector or large public firms a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, particularly in derivative accounting, revenue recognition, and business combinations.
  • Proficiency in consolidation software (OneStream, Oracle, Hyperion) and ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle Financials).
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Power BI a plus.
  • Strong communication, research, and technical writing skills with the ability to provide actionable recommendations.
